I blame all this on the laptop testing team: it has been sucking out all
my free time available for testing since the summer, keeping me away
from my home desktop computer which used to be my main testing base for
hardware :)
That camera has other hardware issues, so I cannot rule out yet that the
problem lies solely in the camera itself vs a hoary/breezy regression.
I'll test it more a file a bug early in Dapper developmental cycle if it
looks like it is a bug with Ubuntu.
