as i understand it, this would allow ubuntu (or any other distro) to
support mp3 out of the box, which could be a nice addition.

personally, i couldnt care less, cause as a somewhat interested user, i
learned that google is my friend and the need to actually inform
yourself about the software you're dealing with is inevitable.
but as it seems (i do support for a lot of people), nobody hasn't heard
of google yet... ;)
