Fewer boring, uncreative, alienating jobs (I read that most IT jobs are
like that) and more fun, creative, rewarding jobs.

I think that's called social progress or something. Of course, the
people who have grown comfortable in their boring routine, who regard
themselves as unable to learn how to do something new, will
energetically object to that.

It is unfortunate that so many people are ready and willing to dig
themselves into a mind destroying routine, even before they get out of
school. And certainly quite a few of them will be victimised by any
social change. But in computing, more than in any other domain, change
is the name of the game. If your colleagues are unable to cope with
change, even before they get out of school, they should look for another
kind of job.

Computing is not where to to look for reassuring permanence, and if it
has looked that way for the past ten years or so, it's only because the
dynamics of the marketplace have been dramatically constrained by
anticompetitive monopolies and regulations. Free software is one of the
driving forces trying to restore balance.

The dinosaurs of this "industry", are rightfully afraid.

I think I started ranting at a point.
