I hope he doesn't have the same 2000 Jetta that I had. That would be
an insult to Ubuntu. :o)

$26K for a car and nearly $10K in parts by 2005 when nearly everything
was out of warranty. It was recently given a trade-in value of $2500
when I finally rid myself of that nightmare. Sad that you see 70's and
80's VW's chugging away just fine, but a 5 year old model needs major
repair on a monthly basis. Hmm... maybe the car didn't like the fact
that I bought an '85 Volvo with 260K miles as my RELIABLE car and
registered volvoguy.net within a year or so of buying the VW. :o)
