First, I did not and don't intend it to be derogatory wrt Ubuntu.
Ubuntu took software from its upstream that upstream didn't regard as
ready for official release, packaged, polished and released it.
Others, including the famous Klaus Knopper do the same.
Similarly, mysql 5 does not seem to be regarded by MySQL AB as ready for
release. Anyone taking it an releasing it is on their ow.
The Ubuntu folk _are_ up to it, but still their followers shouldn't be
showering nasturtiums om others who attempt to follow in the same path.
At least, not before they've shown their mettle.
