Personally I think this is only correct because Ubuntu's growth is so
savage and ravenous that it's pushing Debian (and other Deb based
distro's) aside.
Once Ubuntu's popularity starts to level out a bit Debian will benefit
hugely from Ubuntu's success.
Not only that but they'll start complementing each other.
My opinion is that most the damage being done to Debian currently is
by their own management team, I don't expect that to last much longer
either.
