OK, so here's a version of the invitation mail that is going to be more
robust over time. I've changed the URL's to refer to the current daily
CD burn, and put some explanation of the difference between Sounder CD's
and the daily's.

Ubuntu, a new Linux distribution that brings together the breadth of Debian
with a focused selection of packages, regular releases (every six months)
and a commitment to security updates with 18 months of support for every
release, will go into beta testing this week. A core "sounder" team of
testers has quietly been working on the distribution, and this invitation
entitles you to join that community before the public beta kicks in.
Ubuntu is in its final development stages before public release, so you'll
see some placeholders for themes and artwork, and maybe a few bugs if you
look hard enough ;-) . Please join the mailing list or IRC channel listed
below if you have any questions.
Of course, there are plenty of Ubuntu resources available to whet your
appetite...
See our teaser website for an introduction:

Note that our first release is codenamed "The Warty Warthog", hence the
many references to "warty" on the list.

Feel free to edit pages in keeping with the spirit of the wiki. You'll
need to log in to the Wiki (click on UserPreferences) before editing
any page.

Join the #ubuntu channel on irc.freenode.net for help and discussion about
Ubuntu and the Warty Warthog release.
We are making daily builds of our CD image available. We also make "Sounder CD"
releases (the latest as of 13 September 2004 was Sounder 8). The Sounder CD's
are more tested, the daily CD image might break in some way. YMMV.
Download the latest Sounder Test CD (not the very latest, but less likely
to have an accidental glitch):
http://archive.ubuntu.com/cdimage/sounder-test/current/
Download the daily i386, PowerPC and amd64 installation CD images (also
available via rsync):

Download the daily i386 LiveCD - try Ubuntu before you install!

File bugs in our bug tracking system:
https://bugzilla.no-name-yet.com/
And last but not least, we will gladly ship you a few CD's of Ubuntu at no
cost when Warty Warthog is finally released, expected by the end of October.
To receive a complimentary copy of the Warty Warthog release on CD, please
register at http://shipit.no-name-yet.com/
Enjoy!
The Warty Team
