working.

<Enter Newbie mode>
POINT 3 : My wifi card don't work but no explications
<Exit Newbie mode>
Put the firmware under /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
<Enter Newbie mode>
Firefox is installed, so i use it.
POINT 4 : flash is not installed by default
POINT 5 : java applets don't works too
POINT 6 : videos can't be viewed directly. (mplayer pluggin/vlc pluggin)
POINT 7 : try to listen some mp3 but nothing works. I must reboot to
have alsa mixer on the gnome volume mixer.
POINT 8 : Try to listen .mp3 or .ogg .... totem (or gstreamer) crash,
play fine with rhytmbox.
POINT 9 : viewing videos with totem is not a pleasure.Gstreamer need
more works to be ok. Please consider install vlc instead !!!
I take a look at menus.
POINT 10 : Abiword/gnumeric are installed .... Openoffice too. Please
make a choice.
POINT 11 : documents saved with abiword or gnumeric can't be launched by
a double-click.
POINT 12 : Open Office don't use the same file dialog as other gnome
software.
POINT 13 : Open Office is not in french, with a little research many
packages for my environment are not installed (aspell-fr,
openoffice ...). D-I know that i'm french so may be there is a way to
select fr packages during installation.
POINT 14 : The gimp is installed (great for bitmap, photos edition), but
where is Inkscape ?! And after vectoriel software, where is
Blender/Yafray for 3D ?!
POINT 15 : I have a format floppy tool installed but i don't have floppy

POINT 16 : go to preferred applications : epiphany is selectionned but
not installed.
POINT 17 : i see in my /var/log/messages :
Sep 9 13:54:15 localhost kernel: hdc: lost interrupt
Sep 9 13:54:51 localhost last message repeated 6 times
Sep 9 13:55:57 localhost last message repeated 11 times
Sep 9 13:57:03 localhost last message repeated 11 times
...
I suspect a problem with the kernel and the module loaded to support my
DVD+/CD burner (my be a generic instead the via) lsmod joigned with this
mail.
I plug my usb dongle.Nothing. I launch device manager, he is frozen.
The problem with dvd/cd drive cause problem with hal too (i suspect).
Using pmount /dev/sda1 is okay.
My point of vue for the pumount/eject, is when the device is plugged,
pmount mount it. Nautilus open. And an icon appear on the top bar.
When user unplug by hands, pumount remove the entry on filesystem and
the icon go away. If the user take care of his datas, he right click on
the icon to remove/eject and after he can remove the device. A left
click on the icon pop up nautilus browsing the device.
POINT 18 : I launch evolution and the first screen are so bigger than my
resolution/screen (1024x768) see attachments.
POINT 19 : As i'm not too bad i create a login for my friend. I see that
by default a new user don't have the same groups like me
(adm/audio/cdrom/dialout/floppy[I don't have
floppy]/lpadmin/plugdev/video) may be this can be changed ?! I think
user complain about not accessing audio with his new login.
POINT 20 : French translations seems not good. We have "Groupes
disponibles" that's ok, and "Groupes secondaires" , mmmh... seems to be
a mistake , must be "Groupes sélectionnés" i think.
POINT 21 : i configure samba printers, and make a test page. The test
page with big "XIMIAN DESKTOP"... may be this page could be changed by a
new design ;)
POINT 22 : after my reboot i had no sound because the alsa mixer/pcm are
muted.
POINT 23 : I click on the menu "about ubuntu" nothing happend.
I want to congratulate all the team. Great job men !
