Yes, indeed. I've written about this problem on

I hope that we will have OpenOffice 2.0 for Hoary, but I hope more to
see abiword improve (at least all the feature of Word97 are needed) and
have a better sxw compatibility.
Also, gnumeric developpers don't want to improve sxc support because
"xls is not as obscure as we think and everybody use xls"

pitty for the gnome office I think :-(
That's where we must focuse a lot of effort.
