Desktop usability: how to unmount devices?

Any UI that lets the users delete all files on a device that easily is a
very bad UI.  BTW, on Mac OS, when you drag the volume over the trash,
the trash icon turns into an eject icon.  This way the metaphor is very
clear while maximizing the screen realestate by not adding an eject
icon.
