Would displaying nothing be an improvement? This could potentially be as
simple as replacing the ``not available'' artwork with a 100% transparent
icon of the same dimensions.
This `fix' {sh,w}ould cope with laptops that have no wifi and/or desktops
that /do/ have wifi. Applet position would be retained; which could also
be seen as an advantage.
