see run-bip and config.sh in the above tree ...
for binaries (not services) you can also define a wrapper script that
would handle initial setup ...

and indeed you can add a check for versions to either of these scripts
to handle upgrades too ... note that the content of $SNAP_APP_DATA_PATH
always gets copied during upgrades.
