How do I add debug and development tools to my snappy environment?

G'day,

I am trying to extend our snappy-based platform with some snaps as part of
a proof of concept implementation. My app uses a tool from psmisc
(/usr/bin/killall). During debugging of issues associated with getting it
running for the first time, I need /usr/bin/strace from the strace package.

What am I meant to be doing to get these tools in my snappy image so that I
can use them to help me debug the issues I am having? Do I need to build my
own snap that includes all the tools and utilities I discover along the way
or is there some saner way to manage this?
