Mario gets a big +1 from me. The majority of work I've uploaded has not required any changes and subsequent re-attaching of debdiffs, however when changes were needed, they were small things, usually related to procedure for sponsorship. I feel very confident that Mario will be quite able to go it alone, and I know he will ask for help if he needs it.

I would be very happy to see Mario join the core-dev ranks.
