So many questions :P
Well, of course it's not good to just do something blindly, you are right.
So, before DIF I usually look at DaD and merge and sync stuff. Because
many merges
are then syncs and if not it's clear (usually also send out per mail) to
get changes into
Debian. As I already said around and after FF I mainly concentrate on
the RC-bug list
which shows a lot syncs todo. (I don't want to self-praise me but I
think I synced *a lot*
stuff from the RC-bug list).
And yes, between DIF and FF. Hmm, I can tell you Debian new and
especially debian incomming
are great sources to discover new (upstream) versions and DaD is always
worth a look.
What's important to me? Well, you know ... new upstream versions =) but
in case of DaD
I usually look at nearly everything that has a new debian version. Later
I decide if it's worth it or not.

I hide in my cellar and cry? :P .. Just joking
Can you specific what kind of criticism do you mean?
But generally speaking I know that there are always different opinions
and a compromise is
never the worst thing you can do ;)
What about hugging instead of critisizing? :)
