Hello,

My name is Nathan Handler (nhandler) [1][2]. Please consider this my
application to become an Ubuntu Contributing Developer.

I have spent a lot of time on merges and syncs during the Intrepid
development cycle. I will admit, not all of my merges were perfect the
first time. However, whenever possible, I tried to go back and make any
needed corrections. This allowed me to learn a lot about the many things
that must be considered when determining whether or not a package can be
synced or if it must be merged. I have since used my knowledge to help
educate other people by holding a lesson on how to merge a package from
Debian [3].

Aside from merges and syncs, I have also spent a good amount of time
working on patching and triaging bugs. This has helped teach me about
the different methods used to patch files located outside of the debian
directory. It has also allowed me to word with several Debian developers
in order to get my patches applied upstream.

I have not focused on patching bugs in any particular application or
type of applications. Since I have patched over 100 bugs during the
Intrepid development cycle, it is difficult to choose a few that I am
particularly proud of. You can view my Assigned Packages page on
Launchpad [4] to see some of the packages that I have provided patches for.

I have had the privilege of working with several great sponsors. I would
like to take this time to thank:

Daniel Holbach (dholbach)
Emmet Hikory (persia)
Luca Falavigna (dktrkranz)
Cesare Tirabassi (norsetto)
Emilio Pozuelo Monfort (pochu)
Sebastien Bacher (seb128)
Colin Watson (kamion)
Michael Bienia (geser)

If I have forgotten anyone, please do not feel offended. I really
appreciate all of the help you have provided me with.

Thanks for your consideration,
Nathan Handler
