A friend that benefited on a refurbished laptop from the Computer Wombling Scheme had a sound problem. It was fixed by clicking on the loudspeaker icon on the bottom right of the screen and selecting "unmute" (IIRC).</div><div><br></div><div>2. Ensure the PulseAudio package is installed.</div><div><br></div><div>3. Check the kernel log. I use the dmesg command for that. Not sure how comfortable you are with that. You could try this command. (You can change the word sound for more relevant search terms):-</div><div>dmesg | grep -i -A 4 sound</div><div><br></div><div>That runs the command dmesg which outputs the kernel ring buffer and sends it to the grep command.
