<div class="moz-cite-prefix">Hi,<br>
there are ways you can turn off the computer and most likely use
Wifi even if it is 'broken'<br>
For example, in a terminal you can<br>
sudo shutdown -h now<br>
This will turn your computer off<br>
For wifi you can<br>
systemctl restart NetworkManager || sudo service network-manager
restart<br>
that should work with any version, but as Andre pointed out, you
will need to provide more information.<br>
Are you using the unstable Xenial? Are you using Trusty?<br>
But there is very little reason to trash a computer, ever.<br>
I have a computer from 1998 that still works fine.<br>
I have some laptops that have required a few parts here and there
but have lasted longer than a decade.<br>
<br>
You can always try booting a LiveCD (or a live OS like Puppy
Linux) just to ensure the computer functions properly.<br>
