<div dir="ltr"><div><div><div><div><div><div>Hi,<br><br></div>I can confirm that lubuntu 14.10 alternate i386 runs on this computer, using kernel module agpart-intel for graphics.<br><br></div>First I had to install RAM and replace the DVD writer with a CD-ROM drive.<br><br>Then the install CD-R kept on hanging just after the "scanning CD-ROM" screen appeared. Tried it with a USB memory stick, same failure. So eventually, at the point of failure, I pressed CTRL+ALT+F2 to get myself a command line prompt. Then I typed in dmesg and dmesg | grep -i error. The last error messages were from the kernel complaining about the floppy disk drive. So I had a look, and, behind the Dell's front panel, there was no floppy disk to be found. So I went into the BIOS and disabled the floppy disk drive. After that the installation went smoothly and succeeded.<br><br></div>PC Details:-<br></div>Dell Optiplex GX60<br></div>Intel Celeron 1993MHz<br></div>2 x 256iMB RAM<br clear="all"><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>40GB Hard disc<br></div><div>CD-ROM<br></div><div>lubuntu 14.10 alternate i386<br></div><div>Hostname: detroit<br></div><div>Software: LibreOffice, GIMP, gnome-games, gbrainy, ubuntu restricted extras<br><br></div><div>BW,<br><br><br></div><div>Ian<br><br></div><div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div>-- ACCU - Professionalism in programming - <a href="http://www.accu.org" target="_blank">http://www.accu.org</a><br></div>-- Free Software page - <a href="http://contactmorpeth.wikispaces.com/SoftwareToolkit" target="_blank">http://contactmorpeth.wikispaces.com/SoftwareToolkit</a><br></div>-- My writing - <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/ianbruntlett/" target="_blank">https://sites.google.com/site/ianbruntlett/</a><br> </div></div>
