Hello,
An opinion which is nice to read at but which
unfortunately doesn't bring the first clue
about what in that bench of buttons does what. :?

Well, I'm completely agree with the
actual design of lxsession-default-app, for now is more a
debug tool, that a real user tool. One of my goal for this
cycle is to make it better. I worked more on the backend than
on the UI last cycle. Again (I probably said it a couple of
times already), any UI input are welcomed.
UI input:

Tooltips, and some sort of "help" would be extremely useful! There
were a few options that seemed unclear. Some of the options are
vague. (this is the most needed area).

Using icons to show what each option means would be very helpful as
a visual reference

And to be candid, the UI is not extremely pretty. There is no way
to save or import a preconfigured set of apps/ actions.

It is also completely unclear where these settings are saved. They
are not in ~/.config/autostart (which is where I used to put
xcompmgr, and thunar-volman, for DVD playback)

Are you making the frontend in Qt (for future LXQt)? The Ubuntu SDK
is very easy to make front ends, and you can use a lot of premade
buttons, and other things to make it look nice. It might be worth
considering using the SDK to develop some of the configuration
tools.
QProgram (if I remember... not much of a Qt person, yet) can even
launch external programs. This could make a full System
Settings/Control Panel type program. If you don't like this idea,
please help me understand the short comings, I am not extremely
familiar with the Qt framework, or if these SDK apps would work for
the desktop or not.
