Seems your note has not opengl support. And that's strange. Could you gently try the other cairo-dock installed? The one without opengl support. <br>
Fake transparency is used when you have not a composite manager enabled. <br>
To see if you had problem with compton open a terminal and write:</p>
<p dir="ltr">killall compton<br>
compton -cCb</p>
<p dir="ltr">Then report what happened. </p>

<p dir="ltr">I understand you don't like to add an additional layer but composting is what we need for shadows and transparency. If we will not add them... Any basic dock is OK. Just remember the result will be less eye candy. :) </p>
