Logically, then, you and your fellow Facebook official need to put your
experience with adding "eye candy" to Lubuntu to good use -- write a few
wiki pages that teach others "how can I do that?" and provide an Lubuntu
"Eye Candy PPA" or whatever containing the relevant software, if it is
not already packaged and in the official repositories.

Turn what you already know into a resource for the community. I
confess, I'm not interested in Lubuntu eye candy... but if plenty of
others are, OK, let's teach them how to "sweeten" their Lubuntu desktops
as much as they want!

If you want to change things in this regard, a few well-written wiki
pages and a source of the software would be a good start.

Who knows, if there is really a big demand, maybe later you can create
an lubuntu-eyecandy package which people can install and automagically
have all this candy on their Lubuntu machines :) That could make "eye
candy acquisition" easier for Lubuntu users than for users of other
OSes!
But the way to start is documenting precisely what software to add and
how to configure it.
