In Ubuntu 12.04, I noticed that Gnome applications - particularly Evolution Mail, started having black-backgrounds in a lot of places - some of them important. I assumed this was done to match the much-favored (and pushed) black/dark color scheme called "Ambiance" of Ubuntu. When they did this, it required me to change my color scheme so that button text is now yellow, since black on a black background is invisible. I actually like the yellow button text better in my color scheme, but there are a few contexts (in the Eclipse IDE, for one example) where you end up with yellow text on a white background, which is extremely difficult to read. It annoys me that they are pushing their favorite color scheme (Ubuntu only has two choices) at the expense of everyone else's.
