In the contrary, I moved most of the widgets from pcmanfm to libfm and to keep them reusable.
Those widgets are meant to be used by other programs as well, such as the desktop panel (lxpanel2), and someone can even develop a two-pane file manager with it later. I know that keeping all the things in one single program is easier, but we'll benefit from the separation later once things get stable.
A gtk3 port is welcomed. I did not do it since I want to fix existing bugs first.
My laptop is broken last week and was fixed and sent back to me yesterday.
I'll start working on it again tonight.
Cheers!
It uses a forked LibFm :
https://github.com/afilmore/libfmcore

You need to build it with something like this :
./autogen.sh && ./configure --enable-gtk3=yes --enable-debug=yes --prefix=/usr && make

Then you need to compile the dconf schema :
sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

The main difference is that most of the GUI Widgets are moved from LibFm into the Desktop/File Manager.
:)

There's this bug for example :
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=673117

It's fixed in the the last Vala realize :
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/vala/0.17/vala-0.17.0.changes
I've an experimental fork of PcManFm in Vala/Gtk3 :

http://pix.toile-libre.org/?img=1335994689.png

https://github.com/afilmore/lxdesktop

Very experimental, I don't know if I can do something really
interesting or if it's yet another abandon-ware.

Amusing though, I had the very first GTK3 build two days ago and
the very first working build yesterday.
It's totally unfinished yet, but I have it running on my laptop.

I really know how hard is making everything "uniform". That's
why I'm first who wants to drop out the GTK2 apps.
