Thanks Aere, that works, but I've always used the Gnome Disks app, and it's always worked for me in the past on other distros though. I can't remember if I've ever used it in Lubuntu though.  It seems to me that it ought to work here too.  God bless, Jerry Van Brimmer Sent using Zoho Mail ---- On Wed, 05 Sep 2018 17:09:16 -0700 Aere Greenway <Aere at Dvorak-Keyboards.com> wrote ---- On 09/05/2018 05:19 PM, Jerry Van Brimmer wrote: Jerry: I think the proper way to do that, is from the menu, select System Tools, and from the additional menu that appears, select Startup Disk Creator.  Then follow the instructions from there (you'll have to specify the ISO you're reading, and the USB drive you're creating).  - Aere --
Sincerely,
Aere Hello, I am running Lubuntu-18.04.1, 64 bit on an Acer netbook.  I can't get the Gnome "Disk Image Writer" to work. I have downloaded and checked an iso file. I right click on the iso, and chose in the right click context menu "Open with ..." "Disk Image Writer". And then nothing happens. The Disk Utility app does not even open up. If I go to the Main Menu > Accessories > Disks, then the Disk Utility app opens up. I can then select the USB drive I am trying to write to in the left hand panel. Then, in the drop down menu on the top right, I can navigate to the iso file I am trying to write, select it, and go from there. It works just fine all the way up to actually writing the iso to the flash drive. That's where it stops.  All I get is a small spinner going around and around in the left hand panel next to the flash drive. But the iso does not get written to the drive.  I can take the same iso file and flash drive, reboot this Acer into Linuxmint 18.3 Cinnamon, and it works just fine.  So, I'm just wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong here in Lubuntu? Or, is something else wrong? God bless, Jerry Van Brimmer Sent using Zoho Mail
