Yeah the 180 might lead to a sudden spike in the suicide rate...

The reason they turn the guns on their side now is that it is
guaranteed to throw the empty cartridges right in your face when its
scalding hot.

In the old fashioned vertical position the shooter is always nervous
about that stray round that might drop down your collar... makes you
jumpy.... but if you know for certain you will get the hell burned out
of your face with every round... you can settle right down and shot
better.

In the 8 images of the Schießpositionen Faustfeuerwaffe, far left on
the second row was always my favorite but with long guns, of course.

When I was younger and when I found myself under heavy fire, before I
could get my shot off. I used to stand straight up and do Michael
Jackson style `moon walking' around in about a 12 foot circle to settle
my heart rate down (Suprised the hell out of a few machine gunners
too). Then when I laid back down, my shots would be really steady.

I could steady myself down that way so well that I once knocked over
one of those pygmy pot bellied pigs at 2.8 miles. Had to use the
Barrett .50 caliber, but me and my spotter ate some good pork for a
couple of days.
