[lubuntu-users] No desktop appears on reboot of lubuntu 17.10

First, a bit of new information.  The black screen I described seemed
I could do nothing there... however later I thought about having
installed `xbindkeys' and setting some key combos to call specific
apps.

Turns out my .xbindkeysrc.scm key combos do work. I have no panels or
icons, just a black screen, but the keycombos of my xbindkeys setup do
allow me to start applications.

I see mention of several errors in those files but it is not clear to
me what to do about any of them.

I'm not real sure what you mean above... I did install a fair bit of
stuff with `aptitude' (similar to apt-get).

I don't really see any way to provide a list of installed with dates
of install, but I am attaching a list of all installed and the
versions with:

  dpkg-query --show | awk '{printf "%-45s %s\n", $1, $2}'
