I just googled your thought, and found "Core Duo" is 32 bit, "Core 2 Duo"
is 64 bit . . . so depending upon that data is where that decision lies.
It's possible that a "mac specific" file might be needed, on my 09 MBPro
C2D processor I can use "amd64" . . . but, what is needed is to indeed see
the "EFI boot" image when booting up using the alt key--select that one for
the install.

Other question is, what machine and OS are you using to burn the DVD, as DU
isn't "friendly" to ".iso" . . . whereas Brasero or some linux based system
has no problem.  If you are using OSX to burn the DVD it's best to change
the .iso to .dmg --then it should burn OK.

Other question, basic question, was the file checksum number checked?
Generally it has to match or there will be problems along the line.
