[lubuntu-users] repositioning files within a directory by drag and drop

Very basic I know. I can drag and drop files on desktop. I can drag and drop files from external media into  pictures for example but I am  not then able to drag and drop within to reposition them. I would be more than grateful for the terminal command to permit this . I am just a user with no interest in the internal goings on. Yakety yak is the version I have and as I update and upgrade regularly hope it is up to date.
