I have schizophrenia and attend Contact, a drop-in centre / mental health
charity. Many years ago (possibly in 2004) I talked with Cynthia, the then
centre manager and I mentioned I could get hold of unwanted computers and
refurbish them them to give away to people with mental health problems or
carers'. Initially the work was done in Contact but these days I mainly do
the work at home.
I call it lots of things, typically variants of:-
Computer Refurbishing Project
Computer Wombling scheme
The only presence the project has on the Internet are the notes I have
written for myself (lubuntu-refurbishing-a-computer) and for the people who
receive the computers (ians-lubuntu-guide), on this page:-
