Hi Aere,

1. If your target computer boots from USB, you can make a system in a 
USB pendrive in another computer and move the pendrive to the target 
computer.

2. Have you tried to boot in text mode or just do ctrl + alt + F1, when 
you expect that it is ready for it? It helps you see what happens, if 
you remove the boot options quiet splash.

3. You could try to install a text-mode system, and while in text mode 
install the package Julien suggests. After that you can install 
lubuntu-core or lubuntu-desktop.

If you have a test system, where you can overwrite the drive, I find it 
easiest to use mkusb and install from a compressed image file,

dd_Xenial-32-txt_7.8GB.img.xz
