Thank you everybody for your information and suggestions. I realize that I could install any file manager I want. And I realize that in the normal sorting of things in *nixes that "." files/directories come before other "normal" files and dirs. I was just hoping to find out the logic behind coding PCManFM (And actually, Thunar does the same thing.) to sort the hidden files/dirs the way it does. Like I said, I came from using MATE/Caja for a long time and got used to the way Caja sorts files/dirs. I was just trying to understand the logic behind it so I could see the usefulness for it. I guess it all boils down to personal preference in the Linux world.
