I can't answare for sure almost all your questions... But I suggest you to
make an image of your system to back it up, in case you mess up everything
and cannot get it back to original state. Do you have an external HD?

I usually do not have any problems with trackpad, I'm not sure if I'm too
lucky or if the hardware I choose is always standard. But I guess again
this is an tryial and error... By the way, I have never seen a double
trackpad as you shown in the picture...

LIFEBOOK S761 is an extremely new equipment, so, it is harder to find
solutions to problems that come up, because some manufactures do not give
too much support to Linux. Anyway, probably other models have the same
trackpad, and solutions and drivers and configuration files will be
available and become well known soon.

So, I suggest you to search for laptops with the same trackpad, and see if
there is relevant information on Linux world about them!
