What Does Kodibuntu Have That Lubuntu's Doesn't?

Video streaming services on Lubuntu can sometimes be difficult to set up and keep up with (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/current-state-video-streaming-services-linux/), but Kodibuntu seems to have solved all that.

KODI (kodi.tv) is an open-source media center that offers an incarnation for a dedicated box called Kodibuntu (http://kodi.wiki/view/Kodibuntu) and it doesn't seem to have any issue running any streaming video service.

Lubuntu seems to be the OS running underneath KODI in this instance. If so, I'd like to know how KODI seems to have solved every streaming video obstacle because then there is hope that regular Lubuntu users could do the same. My fear(?) is that KODI is completely different and Kodibuntu is simply a dual boot setup of KODI and Lubuntu. Anybody know?
