Mark:

I use a package called: gphotoframe

You can get it at:

https://code.google.com/archive/p/gphotoframe/

This provides an automatic picture on my desktop, showing pictures from
my photo collection at random (configured to change every 8 seconds).
It doesn't do a watermark that I know of. I do auto-start it.

I use the Kindle reader on Linux, using Wine. It doesn't auto-start (I
double-click the launcher when I want it).

The command part of the desktop launcher for the Kindle reader (the
exec=  part), is:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/aere/.wine" wine C:\\\\Program\\
Files\\\\Amazon\\\\Kindle\\\\Kindle.exe

The path part of the launcher is:

/home/aere/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Amazon/Kindle/content

Maybe that will give you some clues to use in making it auto-start.
