Kaye,

I must agree that KompoZer [http://kompozer.net/index.php] is long in
the tooth (though not by quite 8 years - it's more like by 4 or 5), but
I have found it useful in the past; almost exclusively (for me anyway)
for it's CSS extrapolating and editing features. I also agree that
Seamonkey's Composer [info here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SeaMonkey#Composer] is a great WYSIWYG HTML
editor, is kept way more updated than KompoZer and will very likely do
what you need. BTW, I also rely on Geany
[http://www.geany.org/Main/HomePage] when I need to "Tweak" the html
Seamonkey outputs and/or make many find and replace changes at once.

If you'd still like to use KompoZer... picking up from what you said you
did with the KompoZer download; inside the folder you had made on the
desktop called Kompozer, you would now have another folder called kompozer.

1. Go to Menu --> Accessories --> LXTerminal or [Ctrl]+[T] and type (or
copy and paste): gksu pcmanfm, provide your password.
2. View the files as Directory Tree
3. Select the kompozer folder, right-click and choose cut from the
drop-down menu.
4. Navigate to /usr/share. Select the "share" folder on the left pane
(single-click).
5. Right-click an empty space in the right pane and choose "paste" from
the drop-down menu.
6. Right click an empty space on the Desktop and choose "Create New...
Empty File" from the drop-down menu.
7. Enter the name for the empty file as (or copy and paste):
kompozer.desktop
8. Right click the file and choose "Leafpad" from the drop-down menu.
9. Copy and paste the text below into the file.

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=KompoZer
Comment=WYSIWYG HTML Editor
GenericName=KompoZer
Exec=/usr/share/kompozer/kompozer %u
Icon=/usr/share/kompozer/icons/mozicon256.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=GTK;Qt;Development;IDE
StartupNotify=true

10. Save. "X" out of the shortcut.
11. Right-click the shortcut on the desktop and choose cut from the
drop-down menu
12. Navigate a little further to /usr/share/applications. Select the
"applications" folder on the left pane (single-click).
13. Right-click an empty space in the right pane and choose "paste" from
the drop-down menu.

You probably want to get rid of the
kompozer-0.8b3.en-US.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz file and the Kompozer folder you
made for it on your desktop. To get rid of them both quickly and without
bothering the trash; select the Kompozer folder, hold down the [Shift]
key and click the [Delete] or [Del] key.

If you do decide to use SeaMonkey; see these step-by-step instructions
just for Lubuntu with screen shots and everything here:
