yes,
man is the built in MANUAL.
You can use it to find out information about virtually everything. 
There are lots of other really useful commands, such as
locate
If you want lots of streaming info across your screen try

locate man
locate cat
locate dog
locate home

anyhow:
man man
gives the manual about the manual.

You could also try
man locate
