Aere reported (comment #15 at the Launchpad bug report)

"When I boot Lubuntu 14.10 from a live-USB, it appears to do the same
thing as when I rebooted after the system updates."

I assume 'the same thing as with 14.04.1 LTS after the system updates'.

So I booted my IBM Thinkcentre with Lubuntu 14.10 from a live-USB. It
works, so it is not affected by this bug.
