With a fast USB 3 pendrive, for example Sandisk Extreme, speed is no big
issue. It works rather fast even in a USB 2 port. The time to start and
stop reading/writing a file can vary a lot. Fast USB 3 pendrives are
much better than standard pendrives reading/writing many small files,
which is important for installed systems and persistent live systems.
