14.04 Look and Feel: many items are VERY faint (Israel)

Me too, i'm getting somewhat fancy graphics, but in synaptic. When i've
clicked a package to be installed, the screen *ALWAYS* shows a list
beginning with the alphabetically first programm (0ad in my case). That
gets corrected by a simple mouseover, but for sure that's not correct.

I'm using the latest AMD Catalyst driver (13.35) i already used, without
this problem, in 13.10.
