xfce4-power-manager? Anyway, I have "Network" disabled there in Desktop
Session Settings, but it is running anyway for some reason. I have
nm-applet.desktop on both /etc/xdg/autostart/ and ~/.config/autostart/, but
nothing in /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/

Jarno,

network manager applet is started by default on lxsession-default-apps
under the running applications tab. Look on Network GUI. You can choose
between auto, no, nm-applet, wicd or other.
