Chromium browser vs Google Chrome: security on Lubuntu

hummm, tricky. thank for your prompt reply!
however, for a general user like myself, i don't quite understand why i
should point my updates to a -dev ppa instead of the stable ppa. in fact, i
wish i could use the universe version with updated, tested, secure stuff.
i'm the kind of user that prefer stock, stable, tested, secure software.
Lubuntu as it comes is almost perfect to me. the only ppas i have added to
my lubuntu are Alex Shkop stable just because of the Lubuntu Docs
workaround. (yes, there's just one more strange
ppa: webupd8team/java/ubuntu, but that's because in my country lots of
things do not work without oracle Java).
so, again, is the dev ppa delivering a stable, tested and secure software?
i'm confused because i thought dev stands for development...
thank you again,
iberê
