Fwd: Shutdown and Reboot buttons do nothing

Cool, the command works like a charm. I don't mind turning off or restarting my computer with the terminal. In fact, it feels more classy! 

As for data, I have no problems. Most of my personal data sits either in Dropbox or my pendrive. 

Just for the record:
$sudo shutdown now  #shuts down
$sudo shutdown -r now #restarts
