Ali,

I'd like to respectfully disagree. Lubuntu in my experience uses a lot 
of RAM during installation, but nowhere near as much during normal use. 
If we could get that installation figure down, we can get a lot more 
users. If that means the installation is slower, so be it. I doubt many 
users are too bothered by another couple of minutes when installing.

PS Please don't take this as a challenge to your authority, I'd just 
like to suggest this is perhaps an option worth discussing. Maybe as 
another email thread as you see fit?
