As long as the user understands the risks.
I wouldn't recommend doing internet banking or keeping personal data on 
the machine.
It's like going out to the shops and leaving the house door unlocked. 
Not a good idea. Leaving an upstairs window slightly ajar, though, 
doesn't carry the quite the same risk.
