Firefox not displaying text files

Some files on the web are html, some are text, some are jpeg, some are
png, etc.  I happen to run across text files occasionally and notice the
problem Firefox has acquired in opening them.  Clicking on a link that
leads to a text file launches an external app instead of showing the
file inline inside Firefox itself.  In Lubuntu that external app
defaults to Leafpad.
