I looked at the screenshots. We need to work on it, anyway:

About menu disappearing, logout and login again seems to solve the
issues. Probably something is missing when session start. The version
I'm testing on 13.10 (a new package) seems to working fine but doesn't
work on 13.04 (yet).

Sometimes shadows goes crazy when you start Lubuntu-OSX session,  I'll
send a message to the maintainer of Compton to see if he know a good
solution tomorrow.
