I have experienced this same behavior, but from a different set of
actions to trigger it.
On my machine, I have 5 partitions, which I boot at different times.
One of them is my primary system, which Lubuntu, which I am using to
send this e-mail. This (Lubuntu) partition uses XScreensaver.
Whenever I boot any of the other partitions, the next time I log-in on
the Lubuntu system, just after logging-in, XScreensaver immediately
starts running, and I have to re-enter my password on it, before I can
do anything on my system.
