Lubuntu 12.04 installation problem on Acer Aspire

I am trying to install Lubuntu 12.04 on an Acer Aspire ONE 751h-52Bb -
(Atom Z520, 1Gb RAM, 160Gb hard disk).
It previously had xubuntu 11.10 installed on it.
I'm installing from a 2Gb USB stick. The machine boots OK from the
stick and offers the usual menu of, try without installing, install,
check disk, test memory or boot from hard disk. The disk check option
says the USB is OK.
However if I select Install Lubuntu it starts as normal and lets me
select the installation language but then (after quite a long time
reading from the USB) I get "ioremap error for 0x3 [lot of hex]
requested 0x10, got 0x0. The installation continues but when the GUI
comes up it's rather broken and partially off screen.
Any ideas what might be wrong and/or what I can do about it?
