No WiFi on Acer Aspire One, how to get it to detect it?

Ok, thanks, I'll take a look at those pages.  It *did* work when it had
xubuntu installed on it.  However it's quite possible I have the WiFi
turned off and I can't find any documentation that tells me which way to
push the switch to turn it back on again.
